Born into a naval family in Portsmouth,the birthplace of the British Navy, the sea and travel were an integral part of the artists formative years generating a passion which endures to this day.Working mainly in acrylic or oils, John's training came from painting a wide range of subjects from exotic dancers for restaurants to

architectural and yacht portraits for clients from the Solent, on the south coast of England, to the Mediterranean.

Today his paintings draw on those early influences combined with a fascination with the shoreline where , in his words........

" Water meets land, a place of many moods from serene calm to raging fury".

John currently hold a residency at the Maritime Fine Art Gallery at Port Solent, Portsmouth where his contemporary work is much in demand.

He is also a regular contributor of traditional maritime paintings to exhibitions at the Artists Harbour Gallery at Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard.
